For 15 days from 7-22 June 2019, 28 Australian, undergraduate nursing students (Fed Uni and Monash University) and design students (University of Canberra) travelled to Singapore. They joined over 40 nursing and design students from Nanyang Polytechnic for the Inspired by Singapore: Design for Healthy Ageing project. Over a two week period, 15 cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary student project groups visited aged care centres and services, talked with older people and staff, and developed project proposals to promote and support healthy ageing. The proposals were exhibited in Nanyang Polytechnic where fellow students, faculty members, and aged services and design professionals attended and reviewed the proposals. The exhibition was opened, for the third year running, by Ms Lauren Hernandez, Second Secretary to the Australian High Commission on Friday, 21st June. This project was supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade - New Colombo Plan Mobility Program.
